Codex Alimenarius
began when it was decided by the UN that the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization get together and develop a universal food code with the aim of 'harmonizing' regulations for dietary supplements worldwide and setting international safety standards for the purposes of increased trade. Instead of just focusing on food safety, Codex is using its power to promote worldwide restrictions on vitamins and food supplements, severely limiting their availability and dosages.
John Hurley is from the Melbourne Supplements Action Group. The group seeks to inform the public about Codex Alimentarius.
